Pruning a board for growth Monday 13th February, 2017

Pruning a board for growth

A large attendance was present for the AGM of the Association, which took place on 9 February in the Guinness Enterprise Centre, Taylors Lane, Dublin 8.

The AGM  was preceded by a talk "Dormant, Deadwood, Sucker, Leader – Pruning a Non-Profit Board for Growth" by Maeve O'Connell, Lecturer in Corporate Governance and Company Law, DIT and former MBAAI President .

Maeve highlighted best practices for an effective non-profit board. Drawing on research, she explained that best governance is not the same for all organisations, and benchmark guidance for for-profits may be unhelpful or damaging for non-profits.
