50th anniversary gala dinner
The MBA Association of Ireland celebrated its 50th anniversary this month with a gala dinner in the Westin Hotel in Dublin. Standing proudly on College Green for over 150 years, the Banking Hall at the Westin was a fitting venue for our celebration.
A line-up of exciting business speakers were the fore on the evening, complemented by a good dose of fun to match. Members past and present joined us on this unique occasion.
Our keynote speaker was strategist and evangelist at Symantec Ramses Gallego, whose presentation was titled The Future of NOW". An MBA alumnus of ISEAD in Barcelona, Ramses travels the world imparting his insights on technological, organisational and societal change ... and always in an entertaining yet thought-provoking manner. In his own words "We are witnessing not an era of change, but the change of an era."
Julie Sinnamon, Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Ireland since 2013, took a look back at the business landscape in Ireland in 1967 and drew contrasts with today.
Another guest speaker was founder of Aer Arann, Padraig O'Ceidigh, one of Ireland's foremost business leaders with a broad portfolio of commercial interests. A former EY Entrepreneur of the Year, he is an honorary member of the MBA Association of Ireland. Last year he was appointed to the 25th Seanad Eireann.
Jack Hayes, first President of the Association back in 1967, was made an Honorary Member on the night.
